Front door update

Just a quick update on the front door before we have family over for supper.  This is the gift I got for Peter this Christmas:
It's the interior part of a turn of the century doorbell.  Solid brass, made from an original wax mold.

This is the outside of the doorbell.  It was the original doorbell for our home, and is made from copper.  The turn knob is a little bent, but it still works fine.  When rung it sounds like a bicycle bell!  We're so excited to have a doorbell, that we've hung a sign asking people to ring it.  It sure beats having people pound as loud as they can on our door!

where to begin?

We have several projects in the works right now, but I think a brief walk through our home is a good way to start. The front door is a project in itself. The glass was broken and replaced with mismatched plexiglass, the door bell doesn't work, we put a deadbolt in, matching it as closely as possible to the door handle metal, the door itself needs to be painted or varnished, or something, and the metal screen (soon to be replaced with a wooden one) needed the screening reset. So that means we've finished half the tasks? Almost? I need to take nicer photos of our newly cleaned house before I show you anymore photos.
Goodnight,
Jenny

P.S. I apologize for the horrible run-on sentence. It's late, and I'm tired.
